Honor introduces touch data transfer technology

Last Friday, September 9, the company Honor announced the official implementation of the standard "Touch data transfer technology"This development, in which Honor played a key role, brings together leading Android device manufacturers to enable seamless cross-device content sharing through a simple “tap”.

The new feature will be available on Honor devices with a case Magic OS 11, and the first model to receive it "out of the box" will be the flagship smartphone Honor Magic 9.

The “touch to share” initiative is part of a broader movement "Golden Alliance", which aims to standardize and improve the interaction experience between different Android devices. Recall that back in July of this year, the Golden Alliance announced an update to the seamless animation experience "from beginning to end", which allows you to instantly transfer content with one touch.

Seamless animations and a single SDK

The implementation of the end-to-end experience assumes that applications initiate the transfer, the SDK is responsible for adaptation, and the system is responsible for performing the animation. This will allow you to take advantage of future Google capabilities by integrating them through the SDK. Previously, developers had to create separate adaptations for each manufacturer's shell, which significantly increased the cost of time and resources. Now, thanks to a single API from the Golden Alliance, development will be "Written once - used many times", eliminating the need to write code for each specific shell.

The system will also support advanced scenarios such as canceling animations and reverting to a previous state. Companies Honor, OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi We have already started integrating this feature since July 30th.

A new standard of interaction

The Golden Alliance, which includes Honor, OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi, unifies standards for instant cross-device content sharing. This means that users will be able to easily share files, links, and other information between devices of different brands with just a tap.

Examples of using the new technology include:

  • Instant transfers to Alipay: Tap to transfer funds instantly.
  • Video sharing on Douyin: Share videos with one tap.
  • Shared coupons in Meituan: Tap to instantly access shared discounts.

This move marks a significant simplification of the user experience in the Android ecosystem, making interactions between devices more intuitive and efficient.
