INTERPOL: 58 arrests in global crackdown on "Jackal IV" fraud

The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) has announced the completion of a new phase of its global anti-fraud operation, dubbed “Jackal IV.” The massive campaign, which ran from November 2025 to June 2026, spanned 22 countries around the world and targeted online financial crimes, including romance fraud, cryptocurrency and investment fraud, extortion emails, and money laundering.

Results of Operation Jackal IV

As a result of Operation Jackal IV, law enforcement agencies managed to make 58 arrests and identify 263 individuals involved in criminal activity. This demonstrates the effectiveness of international cooperation in combating transnational cybercrime.

Key achievements in individual countries:

  • Argentina: Police have uncovered a network that provided domain name services and money laundering through the Crime-as-a-Service (CaaS) model. As a result, 17 people were arrested and 196 others were implicated.
  • South Africa: Raids were conducted at 7 locations in Johannesburg, where 39 suspects were arrested. They were allegedly involved in romance fraud and investment scams targeting retirees from English-speaking countries. During the operation, $2,67 million was seized and 257 bank accounts were frozen.
  • Italy: Police have identified one person involved in a cross-border money laundering network. His bank account was found to be involved in transactions worth €845,000.
  • Romania: Law enforcement officers have dismantled a group involved in investment fraud. 11 people were arrested and cash, cryptocurrencies, and real estate obtained through criminal means were confiscated.

Operation Jackal IV highlights the growing threat of online fraud, which is becoming increasingly sophisticated and globalized. INTERPOL continues to strengthen cooperation with member countries to combat these crimes and protect citizens from financial loss.

“Our coordinated actions demonstrate that fraudsters cannot hide behind borders. We are determined to combat these crimes that harm our citizens and economies,” INTERPOL representatives noted.

The rise of cryptocurrencies and digital investment platforms is creating new opportunities for fraudsters, while romance scams and phishing remain among the most common methods of deception. INTERPOL urges citizens to be vigilant, verify information and report suspicious activity.
