Huawei officially presented a new generation of its flagship foldable laptop MateBook Fold, which became one of the central announcements of the conference Huawei All-Scenario New Product Launch Conference 2026.
The novelty combines a large 18-inch foldable OLED display, operating system HarmonyOS 6.1, local AI features, and digital stylus support. Thus, the company continues to expand its own ecosystem of devices, gradually moving away from dependence on third-party software platforms.
The starting price of the device is 7,999 yuan, which immediately places it in the premium business solutions segment.
Huawei MateBook Fold prices and configurations
The new laptop will be available in three versions:
- 24 GB RAM + 512 GB SSD — 26,999 yuan;
- 24 GB RAM + 1 TB SSD — 26,999 yuan;
- 32 GB RAM + 2 TB SSD — 29,999 yuan.
The model is available in colors Sky White, Phantom Black and Gold.
A new approach to foldable laptop design
Huawei has completely redesigned the folding mechanics.
When unfolded, the thickness of the case is only 7,3 mm.
The company used a new generation hidden hinge made of zirconium liquid metal alloy and a multi-level damping design.
The system supports:
- stable opening from 30° to 150°;
- optimal operating mode in the range of 100–120°;
- automatic display alignment after opening beyond 170°.
This design is designed to provide comfortable work without an additional stand.
18-inch next-generation dual-layer OLED
One of the main features of the MateBook Fold is the largest foldable OLED display in Huawei's lineup.
Main characteristics:
- diagonal - 18 inches;
- Dual-Layer OLED + LTPO technology;
- 3.3K resolution;
- density 229 PPI;
- adaptive refresh rate 10–90 Hz;
- peak brightness 1600 nits;
- contrast ratio 2,000,000:1;
- The screen-to-body ratio is 92%.
Huawei also states:
- approximately 30% lower energy consumption;
- threefold increase in OLED lifespan;
- use of ultra-thin UTG glass with a thickness of 40 microns;
- HDR Vivid support;
- AI HDR Video;
- high-frequency PWM brightness control 1440 Hz.
Stylus support and creative scenarios
For the first time, Huawei's foldable PC has full support for a digital stylus.
Users can:
- write directly on the fully open display;
- use the bottom half of the screen as a digital notepad;
- control presentations with a stylus;
- work in air mouse mode;
- use a laser pointer during performances.
Along with the new laptop, Huawei has updated its own applications:
- Huawei Notes;
- Born to Draw;
- YinYueJia.
They received an infinite canvas, new brushes, support for multi-layered graphics, AI features, and tools for creativity.
HarmonyOS 6.1 and local artificial intelligence
The MateBook Fold is powered by HarmonyOS 6.1.
Among the new AI capabilities:
- local speech recognition;
- automatic creation of meeting minutes;
- identification of interlocutors;
- Deep Research;
- AI agent Xiaoyi for office tasks;
- automatic work with documents;
- intelligent planning of multi-step scenarios.
Huawei emphasizes that a significant portion of these functions work without the need to transfer information to cloud services.
According to the company, HarmonyOS 6.1 performance has increased by approximately 25 % compared to the previous generation.
Working in dual display format
The MateBook Fold supports multiple usage modes:
- fully open tablet;
- dual-screen laptop;
- desktop mode;
- presentation mode.
Huawei also announced collaboration with professional software developers, including WPS Office, ZWCAD, Eastmoney and others, to optimize applications for the foldable form factor.
Autonomy and charging
The device is equipped with a battery 75 W year.
The company states:
- up to 14 hours of video viewing;
- up to 12 hours of video conferencing.
Supported:
- Huawei SuperCharge Turbo fast charging with a power of 140 W;
- charging up to 55% in about 30 minutes;
- reverse charging with a power of 66 W.
HarmonyOS Security and Ecosystem
Huawei continues to integrate its own ecosystem.
MateBook Fold supports:
- HarmonyOS Connect;
- fast file sharing between devices;
- integration with DJI Pocket;
- local AI detection of deepfakes;
- face swap recognition;
- Star Shield protection system.
The company also claims improved Wi-Fi signal strength thanks to a new antenna design.

The presentation of the MateBook Fold demonstrates that Huawei no longer considers the foldable laptop as an experimental product. The company is consistently forming a separate class of AI computers, where its own operating system HarmonyOS, local artificial intelligence models, and the integration of all devices in the ecosystem play a key role.
The focus on performing AI calculations directly on the device is particularly significant. This approach is in line with the global trend of personal artificial intelligence, where data privacy, minimal latency, and independence from cloud services are becoming competitive advantages.
From a technical perspective, the most significant innovations are the dual-layer OLED display with LTPO technology, a new hinge mechanism, support for a digital stylus, and deep integration of AI features into everyday work scenarios. At the same time, the high starting price keeps the MateBook Fold a niche product, aimed primarily at corporate users, creative professionals, and enthusiasts of the Huawei ecosystem.
