Binance Research, the analytical division of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance, has published its monthly market overview for June 2026.

In June, the total crypto market capitalization fell to $2,13 trillion. The market was weighed down by weak institutional positioning, the lack of expected inflows into Bitcoin spot exchange-traded funds, and increased altcoin selling. Net outflows from Bitcoin spot funds were held at around $2,2 billion, while altcoin selling in the spot market reached a five-year high. Outflows from assets outside BTC and ETH have been ongoing for 15 consecutive months, indicating signs of retail capitulation and increasingly selective capital rotation.

The decline from around $83 unfolded in three stages. First, stronger-than-expected U.S. employment data — 172 new jobs versus the expected 80 — weakened the case for a rate cut. Then, a small sale of 32 BTC by Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, increased the market’s focus on the behavior of large corporate Bitcoin holders. The final factor was the Fed’s tougher signals and the breakdown of Iran ceasefire talks, which confirmed that the previous rally was more of a short-lived recovery than the start of a sustained turnaround.

In July, the market will be watching the Fed’s communication, the situation around Iran, flows into Bitcoin spot exchange-traded funds, and the hearing on the CLARITY Act — a US bill to regulate digital assets — in the US House of Representatives on July 17. A consolidation phase remains likely before institutional demand returns to the spot market. On Kalshi, a prediction market platform, the probability of the bill’s passage by 2027 has dropped from about 75% to 38% due to a tight legislative calendar and debate over the profitability of stablecoins.
