epa01816488 A handout released 04 August 2009 by the Journal of Human Evolution depicts a map etched in stone dating back some 13,660 years, making it the oldest discovery of its kind in Western Europe. After 15 years of studying the stone, which was discovered in the Abauntz cave in the northern Spanish region of Navarra, Spanish researches discovered that the etchings depicted mountains, paths, rivers, caves and other landmarks surrounding the Abauntz cave.
